The research tool does deep, multi-step research — not just a keyword search. It searches across multiple sources, reads the full text of relevant pages, cross-references findings, and gives your agent a comprehensive picture of the topic.

How it works

When your agent calls research, it:
  1. Generates multiple search queries from your question
  2. Searches across 10+ providers simultaneously (Google, Bing, Brave, DuckDuckGo, news sources, and more)
  3. Reads the full text of the most relevant results — not just the snippet
  4. Cross-references findings across sources
  5. Returns a structured summary with key findings, supporting evidence, and source links
This takes 30–90 seconds for a typical research task and returns far more useful information than a quick web search would.

Example

Ask your agent:
“Research current freight rates from Shanghai to Hamburg. Include trends over the last 6 months and any upcoming factors that might affect pricing.”
Your agent calls research, reads shipping industry sources, market reports, and news articles in full, and returns:
Shanghai → Hamburg freight rates (May 2026):

Current rate: $2,800–3,200 per 40ft container (spot)
6-month trend: Down 18% from Nov 2025 peak of ~$3,800

Key drivers:
• Red Sea situation normalising — alternative routings decreasing surcharges
• Q2 traditionally lower demand
• Major carriers adding capacity on Asia-Europe lanes in H2

Watch: Chinese New Year production backlog clearing — potential rate uptick June/July

No account required

The research tool works out of the box — no API keys, no accounts, no limits to set up. It’s built into Qorven from day one.

Enabling research for an agent

In an agent’s tool settings, make sure research is in the allowed tools list. Your Researcher agent has it enabled by default. You can also add it to any custom agent you create.
